All I want is for it to work with Android Auto. Please help?

Hello everyone!

I'm having an extremely frustrating issue. It seems that no matter what I do, I cannot make this phone work with Android Auto. I saw one other thread on here regarding AA, but there were no solutions and I wasn't sure if it was the same problem or not, so I thought I'd ask you all for some help.

My car is the 2016 Chevy Spark. AA worked perfectly fine in this car with my LG G3 on both Lollipop and Marshmallow.

My current phone is the KIW-L24. When I first got it, it was on Lollipop. Android Auto had zero function--the phone didn't even detect it at all, it would only charge. I tried several different cords, pre-installing the AA app, every USB mode and debugger mode, nothing. I updated to Marshmallow. I tried all of that again. After that, I began to wonder if maybe the issue was with the Emui OS. So I installed Resurrection Remix. With Resurrection Remix, I have actually made some progress. Using the cord that came with the phone, I can plug it into the car and get the Google Play Services notification saying that my phone is connected. However, when I first connect it the screen just goes black for a second, then goes back to the home screen. Despite the fact that Google Play Services says it's running AA, there is zero projection happening. Just that notification bar, and the Android Auto app as a black, unresponsive square if I check my currently running apps. If I tap it to open it, I just get the same flicker of a black screen before returning to my home screen. It does, however, say in the AA app that it has been paired with my car. So it's sort of working... but still doesn't appear on the car's touchscreen.

I read on one forum that a newer update of Google Play services apparently messed up AA for some phones, and was wondering if that could be the issue. However, when I try to install the apk for 9.0.83 (which was apparently the last one to work), it just says "Application not installed." Because of my inability to downgrade to that version, I've been unable to test if that is the issue.

I have tried calling the Huawei Support. They basically just said "We don't know--tough luck."

Does anyone have any ideas that might help? One of the reasons I bought this car in the first place was that I really like AA, and I seem to be one of very few people to encounter this issue. All I want is for this phone to do what it's supposed to do :( I'm already sort of feeling hopeless, like I threw my money down the drain with this phone. I would prefer to stay with RR if possible, but will really do anything to my phone if it means getting AA to work.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
