OnePlus launches OnePlus 5T in Lava Red India

OnePlus has turned its attention to the Indian smartphone market in recent years. In 2017, for example, OnePlus India was the only Asian country where OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition. Building on that momentum, OnePlus this week brought OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition to India.

The Lava Red OnePlus 5T edition packs the same specifications as the original OnePlus 5T, which include a 6-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a dual camera system, and custom wallpapers. OnePlus claims that the Lava Red's unique color is achieved through a combination of high temperatures, long baking times, two "anodic oxidation"  processes, "double blasting," and "AF coating" — there's less than 0.01% variation between units.

Pre-registration for the OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition begins on January 11 at Amazon India ahead of a January 20 launch date. It starts at Rs 37,999 ($595.82), which is the same price as the Midnight Black 8/GB/128GB version in the country.

It is worth noting that India isn't the first country where OnePlus launched the Lava Red edition of OnePlus 5T. OnePlus took the wraps off the Lava Red edition in China and said at the time it would remain exclusive to China, although that's clearly not the case.
