Magisk has received a number of updates over the past few weeks, each of which has added new features and squashed bugs. The latest version from XDA Recognized Developer topjohnwu bumps up Magisk to version 15.3 and upgrades Magisk Manager, its companion application, to 5.5.4. Both are available via via Magisk Manager or from XDA's Magisk forum.
Perhaps the most noticeable change is the addition of fingerprint authentication support for apps that request root access. It might not be groundbreaking, but it's a nice convenience — a new option in Magisk's settings menu replaces the typical Grant button in the Superuser prompt with fingerprint authentication.
Developer topjohnwu also fixed dtbo on-boot detection in the latest Magisk Manager, which he says should correct configured dtbo patching behavior on Pixel 2 devices. In addition, a Magisk bug that allowed only a single script to be executed in post-fs-data.d/service.d has been squashed, and an MS_SILENT flag has been added when mounting to get Magisk working on devices that can't mount magisk.img. Finally, there's a change that potentially fixes segmentation fault when patching the ramdisk, which should prevent some Magisk installation features.
All of the bug fixes that have been released in the stable channel of Magisk are included in the update. Changes that involve more experimental features and device support testing will be pushed through the beta channel from now on, as topjohnwu begins work on the next major (version 16) release of Magisk.
